Development Status of Plastic Additives and Functional Masterbatch Industry

In recent years, China's plastics industry has shown an obvious trend of industrial agglomeration and rapid growth in the number of large-scale enterprises. The industrial structure is gradually adjusting to the direction of scale and intensiveness. The industry of plastics additives is also adjusting to the direction of scale and intensiveness, especially in plasticizers, heat stabilizers, impact modifiers and processing additives.


Gong Liucheng, vice chairman and senior engineer of the Plastic Additives Committee of China Engineering Plastics Industry Association, elaborated on the development status of plastic additives and functional masterbatch industry. Professor Gong pointed out that the pace of technological innovation should be accelerated, and the "green, environmentally friendly, non-toxic, efficient" plastic additives should be actively developed. Professor Gong discussed plasticizers, flame retardants (bromine flame retardants, organophosphorus flame retardants, organosilicon flame retardants, inorganic flame retardants), heat stabilizers (rare earth composite stabilizers, metal soap calcium/zinc composite heat stabilizers, organotin stabilizers, rare earth composite heat stabilizers, hydrotalcite thermal stabilizers), impact modifiers and processing aids, foaming agents, lubricants, antioxidants, etc. Plastic additives such as light stabilizer, nucleating agent, antistatic agent, cross-linking agent, antimicrobial agent and biocide, antimildew agent, dripping agent, antifogging agent and deacide were comprehensively described. In terms of functional masterbatch, Professor Gong also introduced the composition, classification, product performance and application of functional masterbatch. It mainly includes filler masterbatch, color masterbatch and so on.
