What role does black masterbatch play in plastic products?

Pv:Source: Huaxiang PlasticRelease Time:2019-03-13

Black masterbatch has been used for dyeing, anti-aging, conductive products and so on in plastic products forming and processing. Many problems in the use of black masterbatch are often troubling us.

What materials are black masterbatches made of?

The materials of black masterbatch are: A. carbon black; B. carbon black carrier; C. carbon black wetting agent; D. carbon black dispersant; E. other processing aids.

What are the processing methods of black masterbatch?

There are three methods: single screw method, twin screw method and compact method.

Single screw method: After mixing the materials with mixer, the single screw extruder pulls the rod to granulate. The carbon black concentration is 18-20%. The technology is backward and the environment condition of the production site is poor. It belongs to the obsolete technology. It is not excluded that some small start-up factories still use this method to process.

Twin-screw method: After mixing material with mixer, the material is pulled by twin-screw extruder or granulated by water ring. Due to the limited mixing ability of twin-screw extruder itself, the carbon black concentration of masterbatch is generally 25-32%.

Internal mixing method: After mixing with mixer, kneading with mixer, feeding into twin-screw extruder by feeder, granulating through water ring or underwater, the carbon black concentration of masterbatch is 40-45%.

In what respects does black masterbatch have outstanding performance?

In the dyeing of plastic products, the black masterbatch only needs 0.6% - 0.8%. It will be extremely black, and it will not be darker if it is added more. According to the experimental data, if the products used outdoors in Xinjiang need to rely on black masterbatch to prevent aging, as long as the high-quality black masterbatch is used (instead of recycled material as carrier, white oil wetting, calcium carbonate dispersion, etc.), the content of carbon black in the products reaches 2-2.5%. That is, there are 5-6 masterbatches (weight) containing 40% carbon black in every 100 kg of raw materials, which play a far greater role than that of the masterbatch containing 40% carbon black. Any anti-aging products, product life can reach more than 10 years. That's why drip irrigation products, water conveyance products and communication cable products are all black. In addition, carbon black has a special contribution to the increase of strength and conductivity of products.
